Balancing College Life

Problems That Students Might Face

  • Unorganized
  • Time (too much or too little)
  • Unaware of the resources on campus
  • Lack of motivation
  • Procrastination

Students That Aren't Involved

Study suggest, that they "found that working while attending college has a negative impact on the persistence of first-generation students because it reduces the number of courses they take, the amount of time they spend studying, and the amount of time they spend on campus interacting with peers and faculty (Pascarella et al, 2004)

Disadvantages: What could it be?

Research has shown that students who work up to 20 hours a week actually have higher persistence rates than students who don’t work and/or who work more than 20 hours a week (Pascarella & Terenzini, 2005)

Question: Why is that?
