Impact on America's Economy

Impact on America's Politics

$2,000,000,000 (2 billion) dollars were spent from

the beginning to end of the development of the atomic

bomb. It also created jobs related to its development.

The atomic bomb led to the Partial Nuclear Test Ban

Treaty between the Soviet Union and 'Murika. Both

parties involved in this treaty were constantly testing

and developing their nuclear weapons arsenal so this

treaty was made to slow the arms race down and reduce

the immense amount of nuclear fallout being released

into our planet's atmosphere.

Social Impact of the Atomic Bomb

Leo Szilard's STEM Area

Leo Szilard's STEM area was mathematics. To be more precise it was physics, a topic he excelled at.

At first America's citizens were proud of the achievement

of the atomic bomb. It showed how great things can be made in the U.S. by some of our very bright individuals. Unfortunately as soon as images showing what happened in Japan started showing up (children with severe burns, people being vaporized and imprinted onto buildings, dead babies, dead women, and dead men everywhere) the morale towards the atomic bomb began to disappear. Americans started to think "what have we done?" once they started to process what happened to the defenseless civilians who were massacred.

Leo Szilard was born in Budapest, Hungary to

middle class parents. He showed an early interest in

physics and a proficiency in math (wish he was here to

teach me some math). In his senior year of high school

he won the Eotvos Prize which is a national prize in

Hungary for mathematics. He got a doctorate in physics

and was able to work with Einstein on many occasions.

Impact On U.S. History

Cultural Development Due to The Atomic Bomb

For a brief moment American citizens gathered and

celebrated the end of the war thanks to Little Boy and

Fat Man. Parades happened, families got together, soldiers returned home, and many other cultural developments happened for a short time

Leo Szilard's impact on U.S. History is pretty major.

With his development of the atomic bomb World

War 2 was over without having to sacrifice additional

lifes of soldiers. But this invention came at a price -

many CIVILIANS were killed because of the 2 bombs

dropped in Japan. This weapon is also responsible for

the Cold War between us and the Soviet Union.

Whether this invention did more good than bad is up

to your opinion.
