Who Were They & What Did They Do?
Rich & important citizens of ancient Rome
Ancestors of former members of the Senate
Patricians usually served in the Senate
The Patricians were also rich landowners
Their population was small in Rome comapared to the Plebeian Class
In charge of civil and criminal laws
Be thankful for them because they gave us what we have today.

- Could afford luxery items

- Houses are called mansions or manor
- Can be born into a low class family & work your way to become upper class
- Today, we no longer have slaves to do our work
- The Patricians lived in houses called domus
- Patricians could often afford to have both a townhouse and a country villa
- Their rooms had high ceilings and wide doors but not many windows
- Even though they were rich and upper-class, they did not have much furniture
