Hi, My name is Lindsay Shank, and I'm in sales
- 00:03 - 00:06
enablement. When it sells, person asks me what sales enablement
- 00:07 - 00:10
is. My simple answer is that our job is to
- 00:10 - 00:13
make you the best of your job through coaching and
- 00:13 - 00:17
treating Now, no matter what role or department you were
- 00:17 - 00:20
in. If you're creating a training, the first thing to
- 00:20 - 00:23
ask yourself is, How are we going to deliver this
- 00:23 - 00:26
training? Is it going to be live virtual or self
- 00:27 - 00:28
taught? Now?
- 00:28 - 00:30
It would be a great if all trainings could be
- 00:30 - 00:32
alive. But that's simply not scalable.
- 00:33 - 00:37
And with work from home so prevalent, training virtually is
- 00:37 - 00:38
an important skill to master.
- 00:39 - 00:42
So I've come up with five things to include in
- 00:42 - 00:43
a virtual training.
- 00:43 - 00:44
Let's get started.
- 00:46 - 00:48
Number one The Why why are you doing this training
- 00:49 - 00:52
and why is it important to the audience a great
- 00:52 - 00:53
way to discuss this?
- 00:53 - 00:54
Why is through audience participation?
- 00:56 - 00:56
So let's see.
- 00:57 - 00:59
The training topic was how to work from home effectively.
- 01:01 - 01:02
I might pull the slide like this to get the
- 01:03 - 01:06
juices flowing and asked the audience, What are some challenges
- 01:07 - 01:08
you're currently facing?
- 01:08 - 01:11
Working from home, then is the trainer.
- 01:12 - 01:15
You can utilize these responses to tailor the rest of
- 01:15 - 01:18
the presentation to that specific audience.
- 01:21 - 01:21
Number two.
- 01:22 - 01:24
Setting the Agenda This is something that should never be
- 01:25 - 01:28
skipped. The agenda sets the tone for the training.
- 01:29 - 01:30
It also keeps the audience on track.
- 01:31 - 01:35
And it amplifies that why, for that purpose of the
- 01:35 - 01:40
training number three, what I think is the most important
- 01:41 - 01:44
and often overlooked care in tow all learning styles.
- 01:45 - 01:48
As the trainer, it's your responsibility to make sure that
- 01:49 - 01:50
everybody is able to learn.
- 01:51 - 01:53
So I'm going to give you examples for these four
- 01:54 - 01:54
learning styles.
- 01:55 - 01:58
For a visual learner, make sure to include lots of
- 01:58 - 02:01
graphics and shirts for an auditory learner.
- 02:02 - 02:04
Asked lots of questions to the audience throughout.
- 02:05 - 02:07
This will allow those learners to hear back their responses
- 02:09 - 02:09
for reading and writing.
- 02:10 - 02:12
You could send out a worksheet prior to the training
- 02:12 - 02:14
to be printed out and completed during.
- 02:15 - 02:18
Or you could pause for little quizzes or what I
- 02:18 - 02:22
like to call checkpoints throughout to test knowledge and kinesthetic
- 02:23 - 02:26
learners. Learn by doing so, break out into small groups
- 02:26 - 02:29
to do role, play or give discussion topics.
- 02:30 - 02:34
Many of videoconferencing software is now allow you to create
- 02:34 - 02:41
virtual breakout rooms number for the actionable take away.
- 02:41 - 02:45
It's important that everybody in your audience can immediately leave
- 02:45 - 02:48
the training and implement something to see results.
- 02:49 - 02:52
Sometimes that takeaways obvious if your training on a new
- 02:52 - 02:53
software or method.
- 02:54 - 02:57
But if it's not, prompt the audience to come up
- 02:57 - 02:57
with that take away.
- 02:58 - 03:01
So in the example of working from home effectively, I
- 03:01 - 03:04
would send out the audience into small groups to to
- 03:04 - 03:07
talk about what exactly they're going to implement to see
- 03:07 - 03:14
changes immediately and then come back to discuss and number
- 03:15 - 03:15
five results.
- 03:16 - 03:19
It's important that after every training, you're able to see
- 03:19 - 03:21
the effectiveness of that training.
- 03:22 - 03:24
So a few ways to do that, you could simply
- 03:24 - 03:26
take a test group and look at the performance before
- 03:27 - 03:29
and after the training to see if there was an
- 03:29 - 03:33
improvement. You could send out a survey or poll, or
- 03:34 - 03:36
you could create a certification to test their knowledge.
- 03:38 - 03:39
So there you have it.
- 03:39 - 03:42
Five things to include in a virtual training.
- 03:42 - 03:44
I hope that you were able to learn something from
- 03:45 - 03:47
this training to take to your training.
- 03:47 - 03:48
Thanks for watching
