This area, or the Prairie Provinces, have clear, cool lakes, lazy rivers, and eroded sand and rock formations in the badlands that they have. Sand dunes are also found along the broad and semiarid plains.

- Manitoba gets its name from the cree indian words "manitou bou" meaning the narrows of the Great Spirits. It refers to a place in Lake Manitou where the waves make a crashing sound thought to come from the Great Spirit.
- Winnie-the-Pooh was named after a real black bear named Winnie after the city Winnipeg.
- The Winnipeg falcolns won the first ever Olympic gold medal in hockey in 1920
- Manitoba is home to one of the largest wolf populations in the world
