Symbol- Deck of Cards
The deck of cards that Emma carries around in her purse is a powerful symbol for life. Mrs. Robinson gives Emma an alternate way to play the game of life, with success being the joy of keeping her ‘player’ husband. Emma, however, chooses to play the game in an another way, one in which she attempts to satisfy the needs of both Dorian and Jack. Emma is the loser in the game, however, because she dies with the joker in her hand. This signifies that her future could have gone in any direction because the joker introduces the element of chance to the game; it can be a bonus, a penalty, or both, depending on how it is used in the game. In the game of life, Emma lost because she chose to take a chance with pleasing both members of her family, instead of concentrating soley on her husband, as Mrs. Robinson suggested. The game of life gives every-one chances however, just like a card game, and Mrs. Robinson was given a chance to bag her rich man with Emma’s exit from the game.
Plot- in this story Emma we meet a little girl called Dorian York (Dory). She had a friend by the name of Maria, they both would play games which revolved around her mother (Emma). An intimate view of how Dory sees her mother, as well how she feels about her is obtained. We also learned that Dory has an innocent narrative because quite a few things she doesn’t understand. In the story we understand that Emma and Mr. York (jack) had a volatile relationship caused by his infidelity with the lady at the train station. This caused Mr. York to arrive home late from work everyday but when Grandaddy visited things changed. Mr. York now makes time for his family and he seem to forget about the lady at the train station, but only until Grandaddy leaves. The presences of the lady at the train station with Mr. York as well as Mrs. Robinson’s discussion at Gino’s stating Mr. York a ‘PLAYER’, all lead to the death of Emma. When she saw her husband with the lady at the train station Emma ran away followed by Dory but they were hit by an oncoming vehicle where Emma died. Mrs. Robinson and Jack ended up in a relationship and send Dory and Maria to St. Agnus boarding School.

Chantal Charles
&
There is conflict with Emma and Mrs. Robinson.
Mrs. Robinson was not a good friend to Emma she was jealous of her. At Gino’s we see Mrs. Robinson purposely said things to Emma to get her vex like stating Mr. York is a ‘Player’ and asking Emma about having another baby. This conflict ended when Mrs. Robinson indicated to Emma that she got a bigger problem on her hand when she was dusting off Dory. Mrs. Robinson showed Emma Mr. Jack kissing the lady at the train station which lead to Emma death.
