Decolonization of South Africa

Taking over

The Khoikoi had an outbreak of small pox that further decimated the native Africans. So this let more white colonial settlements. As more wealthy settlers came, the more the natives were pushed to a land reserve. some natives were taken to the reserve and other times when they came across a tribe they killed the adults and kept the children as laborers

The Dutch

The Dutch East India Company first established a small settlement in Cape Town in 1652. They first build the settlement as a rest stop and supply station for ships traveling around southern Africa to get to India. More European settlements were established after the Khoikhoi moved areas during the summer. This century was known as the "white invasion". The first violent conflict happening in 1659 between the Dutch and native Africans. Over the next 50 years they slowly took over more a land and resources because of their superiority in weapons.

South Africa was colonized by the English and the Dutch. Before colonization they were very diverse and welcomed everyone. Each country varied in types of governments but mostly were self governing tribes.
