ARPA that!

ARPA is already in action here, awesome!

ARPA That!

Hoo-rah!

ARPA

Wow, no only have we made sure archeological resources are being protected on this island, we've also learned a whole lot about ARPA.

I bet if we were one day to have a test on this, we would all ace it!

Archaeological Resources Protection Act of 1979

"Archaeologists Rarely Play Around"

Situation 3: The Amazing Amendments

[Read Card 3]

  • Aw, how lovely! We've stumbled upon a an informant sent by one of the federal land managers giving a talk on the importance of archaeological resources to the public! Just like amendment 10(c) requires them to.
  • And if we look over here, there's one of the major land managing Federal departments scheduling an archeological survey of their land so they can be better informed! (Section 14)

Situation 2: The Incomprehensible Individual

Goodness, this path to understanding ARPA is full of ner-do-wells! This monster looks nice enough, but he's doing excavation on this federal land without a permit. Could this monster even get a permit?

[Read Card 4]

  • Are you qualified to carry out the permitted activity?
  • Is this activity undertaken for the purpose of furthering archaeological knowledge in the public interest?
  • Will any resources you find on these public lands remain the property of the United States?
  • Will this activity interfere with any management plans applicable to public lands concerned?

[Read Card 2]

Oh no! This ship of crazy evil anti-archaeological preservation monsters just arrived on the island!

This monster is clearly not qualified for a permit! Let's kick him off!

Let's explore the island to make sure they don't do anything terrible!!

Good thing we have ARPA with us!

Situation 1: The Losing Looter

This is a disgrace! This monster is just digging up artifacts on federal land that could have cultural significance to a specific group of people! What can we do?

[Read Card 1]

  • looters can be dangerous: don't confront them, simply record what you see happening and report it
  • if all goes well, this person who has violated ARPA could be fined $20,000 and serve a year in prison on a first offense and $100,000 or up to 5 years in prison for a second time offense!

Nice work (:
