Along with the economic crisis, a drought had struck the Great Plains. Due to erosion of the soil and the drought, dust storms became frequent. The dust storms caused the wheat to be destroyed. It seemed to be burried under dust.

The Banks Crumble, Just Like the Stock Market.
On October 29 of 1929 our stock market crashed and turned to dust. This caused the break out of the great depression. The money that thousands of Americans had invested in the stock market turned to dust.
Due to overproduction in factories and the general public's ability to barely put food on the table, many factories were forced to close because their products were not selling. This caused the employment in the U.S to turn to dust.
