Reflecting: Do you think that grit is useful in other areas of life, of does it just apply to students in school? Explain your ideas.

We think grit is useful in other areas of life!

Sport area

Choi Gwang Geun

Music area

Ludwig van Beethoven

Thank you:)

Choi Gwang Geun is an indomitable man who competed in the Paralympics and won two consecutive games.

He injured his eye, so he became blind.

But he has grit and he did not give up his dream.

So, at the 2012 London Paralympics, he won the gold medal by ippon within every game except for a single game.

Beethoven has a problem with his hearing.

Nevertheless, he is one of the greatest musicians in music history.

Because, he loves music and he also has grit about composing music.

CRITICAL THINKING

Synthesizing: Duckworth and Mulgan each have ideas about why some students aren't successful in school. How are their ideas similar or different? Explain your answer.

I'm mulgan

I'm duckworth

Traditional School’s education is not relevant to the kind of work students will do in the future.

In various contexts, predictor of success emerged one characteristic. It is grit. Success requires grit.

Mulgan said the problem was in the school system. Traditional School’s system focus on teacher-centered, test-focused, and academic learning. So, Mulgan found out solution that create Studio School. Studio School combined academic learning with practical training for future jobs.

We think each idea is different!

Duckworth said it depends on the differences of grit between individuals.

Duckworth said, Gritty students are never give up.

Duckworth found out solution that we need to build grit in kids.

So, Duckworth thinks that we need to be gritty about getting our kids grittier.

CRITICAL THINKING

persongalizing: would you like to go a Studio School? Why, or why not?

We want to go studio school :)

second; we think Studio School is better than traditional school.

First;Studio School teach about future jobs

Learn about future job is more interested than learn to traditional education.

So, we think it can be more concentration to school study in Studio School.

Studio School combine academic learning with practical training for future jobs and about 80% of the curriculum is done not through sitting in classrooms but through real-life, practical projects.

If we learn about work, businesses will love us.

It will be useful for when we to get a job!

*example: Actually, when the exam results came through, students who were in the lowest performing groups in traditional school had jumped right to the top after learned to Studio School.

I don't want to go studio school :(

First

We think the reason we want to go is imperfect education.

:We don't think able to learn it

because it's not a good idea

Second

A case of labor exploitation

Reflecting: Mulgan says that large numbers og teenagers "learn best in teams, and they learn best by doing thing for real." Do you agree with him? Explain why, or why not.

we agree with him!

Because many teenagers do team play, and learn a lot of things by cooperating with each other.

Also I think that they work harder to avoid inflicting harm on others.

Representative sport of team play: Soccer

Teenagers play soccer and get to know about cooperative attitude and consideration. And they learn about teamwork by passing a ball. Even if the other team members score goals, they feel very happy. They also practice hard not to cause trouble other members of the team. So they play with a team by doing their best, they will learn a lot of things and develop themselves.
