- The Revolution created long-term effects around the world, more specifically, on the lives of slaves and free blacks well as the institution of slavery. It also affected Native Americans when westward expansion was opening, creating governments hostile to their territorial claims.
- The Enlightenment ideas were the main influences for American Colonies to become their own nation. There is in fact a document connecting to the enlightenment, this document being "The Declaration of Independence".

Haitian Revolution

- Marquis de Lafayette, Lafayette wanted to give the people a better say in the government/Napoleon Bonaparte, put an end to the French Revolution when he overthrew the Directory/Maximilian Robespierre, led the Mountain group within the Jacobin Club
- The lasting effects unified and increased the power of the national states. It also increased the feeling of French nationalism, and set a democratic French Government. The Revolution also gave way to the Reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. Along side the French invasion territories removed the legal and economic barriers that had protected the nobility.
- The Revolution was based on the principles of liberty, equality, and fraternity. Philosophers of the enlightenment, known as philosophies, favored limited monarchy freedom of speech, and equality. The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen also manifests important enlightenment ideas, including religious toleration, political representation, equality that one can find in the Declaration of Independence.

- Slave revolt in the French colony of Saint Dominique
- Jean Francois Papillon, George Biassou, and Jeannot led many rebellious slaves and destroyed 1800 plantations and killed 1000 plantation owners
- The Haitian Revolution has been described as the most successful slave rebellion in the western hemisphere also the largest. The rebellion had succeeded in ending slavery. Haiti then liberated as its own culture and emerged as the first black republic in the world.
- The enlightenment ideas are influenced by the equality of all men. One slave in particular, Toussaint L'Ouverture, was strongly influenced by these ideas. These ideas are stated in the Haitian Declaration of Independence.

Latin American Revolution

- Creoles versus Viceroys
- Simon bolivar led the Latin revolutions to gain independence from colonial rule. Creoles wanted their privileges and gain their independence at the same time.
- While this revolution did achieve independence for the Latin American countries, long term effects of the revolution include a poorly run government, which led to poverty in those areas.
- The ideals that sparked the Latin American revolution, like popular sovereignty, were inspired by ideals from the Enlightenment Era. Popular Sovereignty is the idea that the people should have control over the government.
In the 18th and 19th century, American slaves adopted many forms of resistance including "silent sabotage", fleeing the situation altogether, outright rebellion and the subtle acts of humanization. All were effective to different degrees to bring slavery to its knees. To rebel many slaves used theft, destruction, and running away.
