Psychological profile of Macbeth

Macbeth

  • Macbeth's psychological problems begin when the witches tell him the prophecies.
  • These prophecies make him go mad and consider killing Duncan (The King) and become king himself.
  • Later in the story he has dreams of bloody daggers above him which makes him go crazy.
  • His fear of death causes him to kill others in order to hide his actions

At the begining fo the story Macbeth is the bravest soldier. His rank and nobility are great values and seems to fit his status.

  • The reason he is considered to be a villain is because of the murders he commits in order to take power.
  • After power is taken he continues to proceed with the killings

Macbeth has an encounter with three witches that make him open his eyes on murdering the king in order to become king himself.

  • Macbeth is a tragic hero because he fought nobely for King Duncan.
  • He was named the Thane of Cowador by King Duncan for his bravery on the battlefield
  • The tragedy is that he let his wife influence him in killing the king.

  • Macbeth was known as a tragic hero for his actions and bravery
  • It wasn't Macbeth who brought the thought of murder to duncan, but Lady Macbeth influenced him.
  • He states he regrets his actions of murder
  • After the murder, his character begins to downgrade and become more violent.
