Oh! I Ate Them All!

And Oh! What a stomach-ache

Green Stolen Apples

There once was a man from Peru,

Who dreamed of eating his shoe,

He awoke with a fright,

In the middle of the night,

And found that his dream had come true!

Sonnet

Concrete Poem

Traditionally, the sonnet is a fourteen-line poem written in iambic pentameter, which employ one of several rhyme schemes and adhere to a tightly structured thematic organization.

Concrete/Picture poetry is poetry in which the arrangement of words creates an image relating to what the poem is about.

Sonnet 147 - William Shakespeare

My love is as a fever, longing still

For that which longer nurseth the disease,

Feeding on that which doth preserve the ill,

The uncertain sickly appetite to please.

My reason, the physician to my love,

Angry that his prescriptions are not kept,

Hath left me, and I desp’rate now approve

Desire is death, which physic did except.

Past cure am I, now reason is past care,

And frantic mad with evermore unrest,

My thoughts and my discourse as madmen’s are,

At random from the truth vainly expressed;

For I have sworn thee fair and thought thee bright,

Who art as black as hell, as dark as night.

Name/Acrostic Poem

- A Name Poem, tells us about the word.

- It uses the letters of the word for

the first letter of each line.

"Hello Kitty"

Had a Hello Kitty T-shirt not that long ago

Even, a backpack with Kitty holding a flower

Lots of pens and pads adored my desk

Loved that cute little cat, really I did

Overtime, I had to grow up, sadly

Kitty is for kids, so it is said

Instead, I now have the real thing

The fat one is called Pearl Kitty

The skinny one is called Violet Kitty

Yes, I kept the backpack, it was just too cute

Excerpt from Eleanor Rigby

By: The Beatles

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Ah, look at all the lonely people

Eleanor Rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has been,

Lives in a dream

Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door

Who is it for?

All the lonely people

Where do they all come from?

All the lonely people

Where do they all belong?

Father Mckenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear

No one comes near.

Look at him working, darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there

What does he care?

Ode

A poem that praises something, and is usually written to a specific beat.

Excerpt from "Ode to Cheese"

Author Unknown

Ode To Cheese,

Which make us taste,

The greatest of flavors,

the wackiest of whack.

Ode To Cheese,

Blue, Gorgonzola,

American and Cheddar.

Ode To Cheese,

Beja and Feta,

In all types of weather.

Rhyme

An Excerpt from "Following the Sun"

By: Anne Keli

Bright sun kisses the purple mountains.

I open my eyes and find that night has gone.

Morning comes now, silent but strong.

Night is spent. The moon is nothing more

Than a distant shadow of light nearly lost

In the glowing hues of daybreak.

The fight of darkness is weak.

At long last the shining round

Ascends to reveal an endless day.

Poems with words that have repetition of the same or similar sounds at the end of two or more words.

Eg. The Cat in the Hat
