How modern ROTC begins?
President Corazon Aquino's Time
- The real ROTC in our country did not start until 1912.
- It started when the military instructions was conducted in the University of the Philippines.
- President Corazon Aquino signed Republic Act 7077 into law in 1991
1. If Ihave the chance to add events in the evolution of NSTP Law, I would add to the history of NSTP that it also helps the calamity victims, give reiforcement, and goods in different countries,. So we cannot help our country but also other countries around us.. :))
2. a) LTS or Literacy Training service - is a program designed to train students to become teachers and teach literacy and numeracy skill to those people who needs it.
b) ROTC- is college-based programfor training commission officers. It develops oneself through hand on skills and to have a secure country.
c) CWTS- It enhances the awareness of the students to help the needy persons.
Spanish Colonialism
- During the Spanish Colonial years, there was a training course similar to what is presently known as Reserve Officer Training Corps(ROTC) at the University of Sto. Tomas.
NSTP ACT: Republic Act 9163
- It is a civic education and defense preparedness program for Filipino tertiary education students instituted by the Government of the Philippines on 23 January 2002 by virtue of Republic Act 9163, otherwise known as the "National Service Training Program (NSTP) Act of 2001"
- Students protest theathen the very existence of ROTC.
- Mandatory NO-MORE!! The end of mandatory ROTC in the Philippines.
- Executive No.59 states that ROTC Course is made mandatory for all Colleges in their respective curricula.
3. The situation of our country is not that good. There are a lot people who struggle like they do not have food to eat, a house to live, and a education that we all need. The role of the youth is to help them in all the best way that we can do. If we want to have a better country the youth should start to make good things because we are the who can change our country. All we need to do is to step forward and make an action.
- During Marcos regime, ROTC was replaced by the Citizen Military Training or CMT.
- The ROTC was back by the provision of Republic Act 7707 ot the AFP Reversist Act.
- Presidential Decree No. 1706, otherwise known as the "National Service Law", was signed by President Ferdinand Marcos on 8 August 1980. It made national service obligatory for all Filipino citizens and specified three categories of national service: civic welfare service, law enforcement service and military service.
ROTC during World War II
- The records shows that the product of ROTC were called to the colors and, during the occupation, they prove their worth on the battlefield.
National Defence Act 1935 (Commonweath Act 1)
- It was passed by the Philippine National Assembly on December 21, 1935.
- Under President Manuel L. Quezon
- The purpose of this act was to create an independent Philippine Army, this was interrupted by World War II.
