Facebook is a really big influence on the way people communicate over festivals, Festival republic uses Facebook as their main way to communicate to their consumers, they also use it to promote their festivals by posting pictures of posters and writing status' about their upcoming events. As well as this they also network on Facebook to promote deals on previous years merchandise.( Facebook Leeds Festival web page 2012/13)

In 2010 Festival Republic made £12,864 in profit, in 2012, they made £7,687 in profit, this is a direct impact of the current worldwide recession. (key note 2010/2012)

(Festival Republic) They have a privacy policy in place not to disclose of any information given by consumers on ticket details, by law they must not discriminate against disabled customers and have a disabled access policy to which they give free tickets to disabled carers by application. They also have high security levels to deal with high levels of consumers, their leading company is Show sec. Alcohol is allowed into the festival as long as identification can be provided and you are of legal drinking age.( Festival Republic 2013)

Drugs are also completely prohibited and being caught with them will have you removed from the festival and possibly arrested.

Any person under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at any one time during the entirety of the festival. Health and safety is also a major factor influencing Festival republic, they have a 24 hour medical center based in the yellow camping area of the festival staffed by nurses, doctors and paramedics equipped with minor injuries, resuscitation and general medical emergencies. They also have a stage pit crew for stage medical issues and emergencies.( Festival Repubic 2013)

(BBC News 2013) each festival recieves a cut of the arts and culture department budget each year, but due to cutbacks this year of 7% the festival budgets will be significantly less than previous years, this will have an impact possible expenditure outcomes.

Environmental/ Ethical

(BBC News 29th August 2013) BBC news states that 12 tonnes of metal waste was recovered from reading festival in 2013, there was also £2,000 worth of unused VIP tents, this will all be put towards a town community project. From the camping gear found at the festival, Festival Republic will hold a nearly new sale as well as fund raising from the metal recycling, the money raised will go towards a £500,000 refurbishment or Mapledurham playing fields pavilion near the base of the reading festival site. bags of clothes and food will also be donated to a reading charity. they will also be giving £25,000 towards the pavilion project.
