Color Changing Milk

The polar and nonpolar mixture of milk being poured into the bowl...

The food coloring is being placed into the milk where it'll serve as portrayal of the bonds weakening in the milk...

The cotton swab is being dipped into the bipolar dish soap...

The chemical bonds are being weakened and are reacting with one another, pushing the colorful food coloring around...

The dish soap continues to spread around the polar and nonpolar bonds....trippy.

Scientific Concept

Polarity and nonpolarity is the most prominent

division of chemistry used in this project. The

dish soap is bipolar so it weakens the fat and

protein chemical bonds in the milk/water. The

polar (hydrophilic) end of the dish soap dissolves

in the water while the nonpolar (hydrophobic)

end attaches to a fat bond. The food coloring is

in the mix of this "fight" and is pushed around

the mixture, making it look really cool.
