At a young age, Sarah helped out around the farm

In the 1850's Sarah came to the U.S.

In 1861, Edmonds enlisted in a unit organized by a friend.

She mainly served as a nurse and a messanger.

She also went on sevral spying missions to learn the size and location of Confederate troops.

At times of serving as a spy, she pretended to be

a black male laborer, a white female peddler, and a black female cook.

Eldmonds became the most famous woman soilder

of the civil war.

Edmonds, a Canadian, served in the Union Army disguised as a man, as a man. She used the name Frank Thompson.

Sarah Emma Evelyn was born in December, 1841

Her mother had sobbed because she already had four daughters and wanted another son to work on their family farm in New Brunswick, Canada.
