Important Individual Netball Skills cont.
Timing
-timing of jumping for rebound
-timing on passing to keep the game’s pace quick
E.g The passing practice we did in class.
Awareness to one’s positioning
-awareness to move out of crowded area and into space
-awareness to knowing where his/her position is needed to be made useful.
E.g when the other defender fouled obstruction/out of the D, the defender is aware of needing to stand between the shooter and the goal ring.

Important Individual Netball Skills
Attacking Movement and Passing Drill
Strategy:
- Overall plan with a goal set, includes specific tactics to reach the goal.
- When and where tactic is used.
Tactic:
- The decisions and actions you execute in response to the evolving situations in a game.
- Specific actions in the overall plan.
- procedure used to achieve individual game objective
E.g use over head pass more often, using full width of court
Tactic applied should suit physical attribute
Being able to read the play
-Being able to notice a pattern in how the play is going.
-pattern is obvious to the trained eyes(coach)
-court awareness and tactically aware, make better decisions
E.g
goalkeeper knowing to stand in front of her goal shooter when the opposing other team is bringing the ball up to the attacking third.
- trains player's self awareness in positioning to catch the ball
- trains player to be able to read the play and know where her/himself is needed for better advancing into attack third.
- trains player awareness of teammates positions for advancing passes
-forces players to communicate as a team and being able to keep up the pace.
-can be applied as an tactic to be used in game
Different stages of athletes:
Cognitive stage:
learning basic netball skills, aimed toward each individuals
Associative stage:
have netball fundamental skills, start implementing team strategies
Autonomous stage:
perfect netball skills, hard tactics that require teammates to work really well.
