Coyote symbolism in Native American culture: The Coyote is a clown in the natural world, and in many Native American tribes view the symbolism of the Coyote as that of trickster, shape-shifter, and transformer..

Coyote is a trickster god who falls asleep and gives form to his dream,"dog." He is on speaking terms with the four escaped American Indians as well as the unknown Narrator of the novel. he does not directly speak to the ordinary denizens of blossom, ALTHOUGH he does appear as an odd-looking dog that Lionel sees dancing.

Summary of coyote in GGRW

Coyote in GGRW is a major character. Coyote is a trickster god. Throughout the book we can tell some of the reasons why he is a trickster. Coyote seems to always get lost at where they are in the story. Coyote helps throughout the book. The framework of the novel is provided by an unseen narrator who interacts with the trickster god, Coyote.
