- Stoltenberg is the first Norwegian to serve as Secretary-General
- Stoltenberg stated that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was a "brutal reminder of the necessity of NATO," stating that Russia's actions in Ukraine represented "the first time since the Second World War that a country has annexed a territory belonging to another country."

Why is Norway a part of NATO?
- Norway is among the 12 founding countries of the Northern Atlantic Treaty.
- Was the first NATO country to enlist women into the army
- As of October 1, 2014, Jens Stoltenberg was appointed to become the the treaty organization's secretary general and chairman of the North Atlantic Council
- Norway's bounty of energy resources which has been able to spare its armed forces from drastic cuts, which have been the order of the day across much of the Alliance
