Where did he go?

Marco Polo travelled to Khanbaliq in 1266. There were 1,200 stone bridges, and beneath most of the bridges, many large ships passed. People used paper money instead of coins to buy flesh of dogs and other beasts to eat.

There were many baths – about 4000. Marco Polo noted in his journal that they used stones to keep their water warm.

The streets were so broad and so straight that the end of the road could be seen. In each gate, guardians were protecting Kublai Khan (the emperor).

Marco Polo: Astounded!

Marco Polo

There are doubt on the fact of whether or not Marco Polo actually went to Khanbaliq. There are many variables one would think he would have mentioned that were not mentioned, such as the Great Wall of China.

Marco Polo, who came from Venice, found the Mongol Empire to be astounding and amazing. Because of his background, the Mongol Empire was like heaven. He was struck by awe when he saw what a great empire Kublai Khan ruled over. Which was Khanbaliq.

Marco Polo came from Venice Italy. He traveled to Mongol Empire with his father and uncle. He wrote many stories about his travel. He left to go to Mongol Empire in 1266 and arrived in 1298. He stayed there for 2 years and then left.

Marco Polo is NOT a liar!

Why Marco Polo IS a liar!

Marco Polo is not a liar because he can’t lie in Middle Ages when everything was focused on God. Meaning, he said when he was dying “I did not tell half of what I saw because people would not believe” in front of the priest. In the Middle Ages, people were afraid of the hell, even I will not lie before I die. In the present the information that Marco Polo wrote make sense, and it is really possible in the time. People can’t write that descriptive information without seeing. People can’t know where the gate is and what they do without looking.

Kublai Khan was the leader of the Mongols, who invaded Eastern Europe and Asia. They raided villages and took over. They created the Mongol Empire which eventually spread across most of Asia.
