Cells

In three groups

Make a clay model of a plant, animal and bacterial cell.

Include these organelles:

nucleus, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplast, mitochondria, DNA, vacuole.

Match up and state what kind of cell each is found in

Where DNA is stored

Nucleus

The nucleus is where the DNA is found in plant and animal cells.

These kind of cells are eukaryotic

(this means they have a nucleus)

Bacteria

Bacterial cells don't have a nucleus.

they are prokaryotic

Extracting DNA

We can remove the DNA from cells. How do you think we get it out?

As a group act out the extraction of DNA

Homework

Research the discovery of DNA.

You need to find out about the roles of four key scientists.

Watson, Crick, Franklin and Wilkins

What did each discover?

What is the structure of DNA?

I would like this done as either a powerpoint or a poster on the computer
