Many countries, mostly in East Asia, Africa, and South America, most of their people are being affected by poverty and hunger. The most people who are experiencing poverty and hunger are children. Children who are poorly nourished suffer up to 160 days of illness each year. Poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year. Under nutrition magnifies the effect of every disease, including Measles and Malaria. The United Nation Foods and Agriculture Organization estimates that over 870 million of the 7.1 billion people in the world, or one in eight, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in 2010-2012. Almost all the hungry people, 852 million, live in developing countries, representing 15 percent of the population of developing countries.
Poverty is the principal cause of hunger. The causes of poverty include poor people's lack of resources, an extremely unequal income distribution in the world and within specific countries, conflict, and hunger itself. Extreme poverty remains an alarming problem in the world’s developing regions, despite some progress that reduced poverty from 1900 million people in 1981, a reduction of 29 percent over the period. Progress in poverty reduction has been concentrated in Asia, and especially, East Asia, with the major improvement occurring in China. In Sub-Saharan Africa, the number of people in extreme poverty has increased.

1. With a quality education, children will get the knowledge and life skills they need to realize their full potential. Education is essential in creating change in a child’s life. Plan helps by training teachers, building new schools and breaking down barriers that prevent many children and girls in particular, from attending school.Education is the best weapon against poverty and hunger. It is especially powerful in underdeveloped countries. Education means better opportunity and more access to income and food. Additionally, some countries have food-for-education programs where students are given free food for coming to school. This may seem like a basic idea in the United States, but it is lifesaving in many under developed nations.
2. Access to health care is essential. Plan helps communities build health clinics, train health care workers and invest in equipment and medicine so children can grow up healthy and strong.
3. Water and sanitation are essential for every child’s survival. Every year, Plan helps communities build school latrines, community water points and helps to establish organizations to ensure the continued management and maintenance of water points.
4. To overcome poverty we can help by helping communities around the world gain the economic security they need to thrive. Plan is training people living in poverty to acquire the skills and knowledge they need to secure a livelihood, and support their families.
Dear Member of Parliament,
World hunger is one of the main causes of death in developing countries. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 people suffer from chronic hunger, including children. More and more people die each year due to under nutrition.
We need to help developing countries with Food Aid. People are dying every minute due to malnutrition. It is very important we feed our future and help those in need. We need to send more Food Aid and Red Cross to get people out of hunger and poverty.
Poverty is the number one cause of hunger due to lack of resources, people can't afford to buy food on daily basis. Harmful Economic Systems are the main cause for hunger and poverty, due to operation of Economic and Political Systems. We need to improve our agriculture so more people can be fed.
People in developing countries are depending on us to help them. We need to fund more charities and send more Food Aid to support our people. We may live in different countries but we live in one world and it impacts us too. Lets make a good change.
Sincerely,
Linda and Alondra
