Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island are completely within the Atlantic Maritime ecozone. Major Urban Areas include Halifax, Moncton, Fredricton and Charlottetown. Major industries include Fishing, farming tourism and forestry.
The climate in the atlantic maritime ecozone is genarally cool with an average temperature of 18 degrees celsius in july. They have mild winters with temperatures ranging between minus 2.5 and minus 10, but the winters are usually long. It Is very humid because of the atlantic ocean it is next to. It has about 1425 mm along the coast and 1 000 mm further in land
The Atlantic Maritime ecozone is home to many different types of animals like white-tailed deer, moose, black bears, northern flying squirrels, and bobcats There are also wolves and mink. Types of birds include blue jays and bluebirds.
Both the Mi'kmaqs and Maliseet aboriginal populations inhabited the majority of the ecozone until european settlers arrived in the 17th century. They settled in coastal lowlands.
The ecozone saw frequent battles over natural resources. Control was passed from the Mi'kmaq-Maliseet ( One of the original aboriginal groups) to the French, then to France and Britain in 1713, and eventually to the British in 1763.
The atlantic maritime ecozone consists of 2 main regions, The Appalachians and the coatsal plains. The appalachians are mostly small hills with poor soil quality for farming, while the coastal plains have much richer soil.
The Bay of Fundy have tides that are near the highest highest in the world, changing twice a day, every six hours and thirteen minutes. With each tide, the bay flushes 100 cubic km of water.

The ecozone is a transitional forest with both deciduous and boreal forests. It is dominated by spruces and balsam fir. There are also Yellow birch, red pine, eastern white pine and eastern hemlock.
