Because of the fourth amendment,

the Michigan State Police has violated

the Constitution and their sobriety

checkpoints have been discontinued.

What is it?

The people of Michigan had a urge to protest against the Michigan State Police against their sobriety checkpoints located all over the city. The cops would question the drivers to see if they were highly intoxicated If the driver appeared intoxicated they would be sent to a high sobriety test.

In the case of Sitz v. Michigan state police , a ton of residents of Michigan sued the state police for unreasonable search and seizure.

What happened during the trial?

The people were protesting the Michigan State Police because they felt that their fourth amendment was being violated as they were being stopped for a sobriety check point .

The trial was held by a group of citizens against the state of Michigan to sue against the fact that their fourth amendment had been violated. The defense argued that they were trying to catch drunk drivers before they caused accidents and death, so it was crucial for the checkpoints to be surprising and unannounced.
