In the following methods, our media product uses development, challenging forms and conventions of real media products to create an authentic neo-noir.
The length of our media project corresponds to that of an opening title sequence. It is aproximately 1:30 seconds and contains all the elements such as title's, actors, and the first scenes telling the story.
We made our titles easily readable
by placing high contrast between
the red font and black background.
This is similar to most noir films, as red
is a iconic colour that is instantly recognisable.
The font's were basic styles, and the sizes were large enough to read easily however not too big
to look un-professional.
Our OTS represents conventions
of a neo-noir film by including many
genre conventions, iconography and
recognisable symbols of most other neo-noirs.
For example, our OTS does not included any blood, and is filmed all in black and white.
Another iconic example is the red title being the only symbolic and vibrant colour in the OTS.
The weapon used within our OTS is a common tool, therefore easily accesable and is new to the genre. This is because guns or knifes are usually used.
The majority of the narrative of our OTS follows Todorov's theory as it starts with an equilibrium, followed by the disruption and recognition of said disruption, but the attempt to fix the problem fails therefore it finishes before a new equilibrium can be formed.
Our OTS uses foleying, synchronous sound, implied diegetic, and soundtrack.
For example, we dubbed the voice's in afterwards to avoid hearing traffic, and other such exterior sounds.
We also added in implied diegetic being the heart beat overtop so it can clearly be heard.
The soundtrack is an uncopyrighted suspense audio track that we used to create tension instead of simple silence.
