  • previous convictions
  • violent backgound
  • are affiliated with gangs
  • have some sort of mental disorder
  • serious substance abuse problem
  • usually uneducated

Female Offenders

  • Females account for a small fraction of all crimes.
  • Majority are White & African-American females
  • Ranging from 30-40 years of age
  • Usually charged for more minor crimes.
  • Generally have a lower crime rate.

  • Societies view on the different gender offenders can be seen as one sided
  • The male is viewed as the "usual suspect"
  • Citizens tend to involve themselves with programs in society in order to feel apart of the solution

  • Majority of offenders are White and African-American males
  • Range from the ages of 30-40 also
  • Most commonly convicted of rapes/sexual assault
  • Issues in personal life leading to criminal behaviour
