United Nations
- Hopes for a postwar world began before the war had even ended.
- This trans-Atlantic alliance between Great Britain and the US essentially bound the two together and laid the foundation for post war peace.
- Also addressed the freedoms of trade and economic stability.
- Believed the US, Great Britain, USSR, and China had to assume leadership over world affairs.
- Would act as role models and "police" the other countries.
- Main enforcers of world peace.
- US would be able to remain "isolated".

Economic Stability:
- The importance of this was realized especially in the spread of depression in the 1930s, which led to social unrest.
- In Germany, it also led to Hitler's ability to win over the people and rise to power.
- Germany should be held responsible for the actions of the Nazis.
- Wanted Germany to be divided into several states.
- Should agree to unconditional surrender.
- Should receive fair treatment, unlike after WWI.

- Mistakenly thought to go along with the spread of democracy.

- Opened up for Stalin's spread of Soviet influence.

- Had given backing to Vichy France.
- Refused to recognize the de Gaulle freedom movement.
- Saw de Gaulle as a potential dictator.
- Feelings of distrust and dislike during negotiations.
- Not a big part of the UN, and required to disarm.
