I thought this book was great and suspenseful, but a little too dark and horrific. I recommend this book to anyone with a sick and twisted mind. I give this book 4 1/2 stars.

Summary
Alex and his friends Zee and Gary are trying to escape furnace when they get caught by the Warden. Alex and Zee are sent to solitary confinement and Gary is sent to the infirmary. Throughout the book, you can tell how depressed, sad and lonely Alex really is. But once his other friend Simon comes along, he busts them out and they try to come up with an escape plan. As they try to escape, they discover a dark secret about the inmates. They become lab rats and are tested on but if the procedures fail, they are turned into rats or mutants (half rat half boy). Alex cannot last another second in this place. Read the book to find out if Alex and his friends escape from Furnace.

Protagonist-Alex: An innocent teenager who was framed for murder and was sent to Furnace. He wants to escape.
