Apart from one being a book and another a series of episodes. They both deal with a mystery person or group that is murdering people, but they vary because in The Five Orange Pips the mysterious person is part of the Klu Klux Klan and in The Blind Banker the mysterious person was part of a secret group called The Black Lotus. Also the signs that tell the victims that they are going to be killed are different, in The Five Orange Pips they are warned when they open a letter which had five orange pips enclosed inside, and in The Blind Banker they came across some graffiti of a chinese symbol that meant they were going to die.

Summary of both Plots
Introduction
In The Five Orange Pips the Openshaw family is being one by one killed by a mysterious person. They each get an envelope with inside five orange pips. Which means that they will soon be murdered. They eventually all die and Holmes discovers the Klu Klux Klan was killing them. He also finds out that James Calhoun was the person who was killing them and that his boat never made it back to where his destination was. In The Blind Banker Holmes was trying to find out who had graffiti ed a painting of a man, he finds out that people are being killed off by a group called The Black Lotus because they had seen the chinese symbol that was sprayed using a gold spray can. The sign in The Five Orange Pips was an envelope with five orange pips enclosed inside and in The Blind Banker it was a chinese symbol in gold spray paint that was graffiti ed some place.
