Sushi seems like a very simple dish, but the combinations of fish, vegetables, and other optional ingredients can make it very complex! It is critical that sushi be served fresh, due to the nature of raw fish being a main ingredient
"A japanese speciality based on boiled rice, tofu, seaweed, raw fish, and various chopped vegetables. Canbe served as a snack, side dish, or even as a full meal" (Herbst & Herbst, 2015).
To me, sushi is the definition of the saying that "less is more". It is, without a doubt, one of Japan's most popular cultural export. Being recently stationed in Japan, I've had the full sushi experience in authentic sushi establishments.
I must say that what most American sushi bars don't come close to replicating is the freshness of the fish. Here in Okinawa, the fish is caught from the ocean sometimes the same day as it is served.

Family
Here is my family breakdown of favorite sushi type:
Sushi is traditionally prepared by using boiled rice as a wrapped layer around the raw fish and vegetables. Sometimes seaweed is used to cover the outside of the rice

This was the first place I ever tried sushi, which has became my favorite food ever since! I tried it in May of 2014 with a friend after overcoming much initial hesitation due to a dislike of fish in general.
