-Organized Commerce is all about raiding, and systems of trading.

-Art and Culture is very important, because people from the next generation and the next will learn the history and will past it on.

What is a Civilization ?

A civilization is defined as an advanced state of human society, in which a high level of culture, science, industry, and government has been reached. Their are many different aspects of a healthy civilization such as a strong economy, different laws, and many food resources.

Successful civilization could be separated in to eight general parts. Each part is very important to the chinese government and its people. These parts include an organized religion, art and culture, organized commerce, central government, knowledge transfer, technological, public works, and social structure.

China's Geography

How Does A Centralized Government Help A Civilization Advance?

The First Emperor of Ancient China

How do we know if a Civilization has begun??

  • Early China had many helpful geographical features
  • these features consist of the mountain ranges, The Tibetan Plateau, deserts, an ocean, and jungles
  • Early China's one weak point was in the north where there were the steppes
  • The grassy plains were easily acessable by invaders
  • The first emperor of China was named Shi Huangdi
  • He was a very strong single leader
  • He took over and became emperor by force and war
  • When he became emperor he...
  • Created 36 districts
  • He redistributed land by...
  • Taking away the nobles' power and land put them in a city where he could keep a eye on them
  • He gave each peasant family...
  • Land to make a living and pay taxes
  • He appointed his own loyal officials to govern each district instead
  • He checked on these officials regularly to...
  • make sure they weren't plotting against him

RZ

Build A Wall

  • One of Shi Huangdi's best achievements was the great wall
  • He built this wall to...
  • Keep other people from raiding his empire's goods and perhaps weakening his power
  • In future dynasties, it also served as a good barrier for wars against other empires
  • He built it by forcing 500,000 peasants to work on it
  • We Canadians did something similar too, we built a railway that stretches across Canada
