How Did This Happen?

What Was the Apparition?

The Message

Difference Between Apparitions

  • The veneration paid this plaque in a church built especially for its exhibition was approved by three popes, but only after an ecclesiastical tribunal scrupulously studied the miracle and had the tears scientifically analyzed. It has been said by authorities that never was a miracle so thoroughly tested or so quickly approved.

The difference between The Weeping Madonna of Syracuse and Our Lady of Guadalupe is that in Guadalupe she appeared in person and in Sicily she appeared through her own tears in a statue of herself.

Why Was She in Syracuse?

This apparition of Mary affected the world by giving people the insight that Christ, The Lord, and Mother Mary are all real. I made people who didn't believe in Jesus believe.

This apparition affected the Catholic church by showing people around the world that God and Mary are showing everybody a sign that Mary is leading the way to succes

Why We Believe The Apparitions Appeared

  • We believe that Mary was weeping in Sicily, Italy because we both have a strong faith in the Holy Trinity and we are followers of Mary.
  • We think people are strongly devoted to various Mary apparitions because they keep a strong faith through obstacles in life and are followers of Christ.

  • Our Blessed Mother did not appear in Syracuse, but she sent her tears to the people in Syracuse
  • A terra-cotta bust of the Virgin in the home of a humble couple, Angelo and Antonia Giusto, was discovered to be shedding tears on August 29, 1953 in Syracuse, Sicily.

Why She Weeps?

  • Many theories have been offered which reminds us of the tears Mary shed at the foot of the cross and of those shed by her at La Salette.
  • During one of the vision of St. Catherine Laboure on July 18, 1830, St. Catherine noticed that the virgin looked sad and had tears in her eyes.
  • Mary was weeping because of the persecutions her children were suffering in the East, and because of the loss of faith in the West.
