ATOMIC Number
Cobalt was found in 1735 by a Swedish chemist and mineraligist named Georg Brandt. He was trying to prove that cobalt made blue glass instead of bismuth. Major cobalt deposits are found in the DR of Congo, Canada, Australia, Zambia, and Brazil.

Cobalt is used in magnetic steels and stainless steels, and in alloys used in aircraft engine parts. Its salts are used to make the color blue in glass and ceramics. Cobalt-60 is used to create gamma rays which are used to treat cancer and disinfect medical supplies.

THE END
1. Who discovered cobalt?

OR
2. Name one place where cobalt is found in the world?
DR of Congo, Canada, Austrailia, Zambia,
and Brazil
3. Name some physical properties of cobalt.
hard, gray, somewhat malleable, and lustrous
Cobalt is a hard, brittle, gray metal that looks similar to iron and nickel. It is also somewhat malleable. The melting point of cobalt is 1,495° C (1768 K), and the boiling point is about 2880°C (3153 K). The density is 8.9 grams per cubic centimeter.
The element cobalt is somewhat reactive. It combines gradually with oxygen in the air, but won't catch on fire and burn unless it is in a powder form. Cobalt reacts with most acids to make hydrogen gas, it doesn't react with water at room temperature.
