What we need?
- Two glasses
- Ice cubes
- Water
- A tray
What to do ?
- put two ice cubes in one glass
- fill the another one with ice cubes
- Add water to the brim
- Wait for
What may happen ?
- The glass with few ice cubs keeps the same volumes
- The other one overflows
Why did it happen?
In the first glass the ice floating displaces the same volumes. The overall volume hasn’t changed.
In the second glass the ice cubes are not floating on the water: they are resting on each other.
How does melting ice affect the volume of a drink?
