What techniques did your empire create to administer your territories ?

What were the important imperial cities for your empire and what function did imperial cities perform?

The Gupta dynasty expanded their control over the surrounding kingdoms either through militaristic expansion and by marriage alliances with other kingdoms.

Chang'an was also the eastern terminus of the trade routes from Central Asia and the western point there was a gate that ran a so foot wide thoroughfare to the governmental headquarters at the Imperial city.

What role did trade play in creating and maintaining your empire ?

They traded Silk, muslin, calico, linen, wool and cotton textiles. Trade kept peace and prosperity throughout the empire and help form friendly alliances.

How did your imperial government let their population know that government was " in charge ?"

The rivers made it easier to trade. They were located in the central location.Bigger estates expanded with the help of dependent labor and slave labor.

They were fair and established authority through good politics and a fair but stern judicial system.

What new political methods were created in order to rule your large empire in the Classical Era ?

The Gupta empire was divided by provinces; they let other rulers rule their kingdoms within the empire. They were politically unified. The greatest disadvantage to this political decision was that the empire was not a centrally controlled state; instead, it was an empire of small monarchies.

They expanded boundaries to far , they created political , cultural, administrative difficulties that they could not manage & had many conflicts.

How did the number & size of Classical empires compare to the Ancient Era ?

The number and size of imperial societies grew dramatically by imposing political unity on areas where there had previously been competing states.

Why would your empire be seen as the most influential of the Classical Era empires ?

It was labeled the"Golden Age" of ancient India. They had religious freedom;they were given free medical care, ect.

Gupta's Decline

It declined under internal & external pressures.

It faced threats from invasions drained the Gupta treasury.

Gupta's financial hardship helped hasten the end of the dynasty.

The dynasty grew weak from a number of succession disputes.
