In the beginning of Obama's presidency some states believed that his brand of "hope" equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal governments power or authority would over rule the state's government. So they decided to declare sovereignty.
Can you guess any of the 11 states that rebelled against Obama's aspirations?
Do you have control of your life (as in being Independent)? Do you rely on your parents for anything?
Can you think of anything that can relate to Nationalism and State Sovereignty?
Nationalism
A feeling that people have of being loyal to and proud of their country often with the belief that it is better and more important than other countries.
More key Terms:
Nation- A large aggregate of people untied by common descent, history, culture, or language.
Self interest- One persons' interest or advantage, especially when pursued without regard for others.(Unlike the concept of State Sovereignty, the concept of Self-rule does not address the relation of the country/nation/state to the use of force to maintain such rule. )
State-A nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government.
