Major Rathbone and Clara Harris

- Died: August 14, 1911
- US military officer and diplomat
- Married to Clara Harris on July 11, 1867
- Booth entered the box and Rathbone jumped to stop him.
- Rathbone gets cut on the left arm
- Booth shot Lincoln in the head then jumped to the stage
- Rathbone was unconscious from blood loss
- Lincoln died the next day
- Rathbone survives
After the Assassination
- Rathbone never got over it and blamed himself
- Clara was fine, divorce was not socially acceptable.
- Relocated to Europe
- December 23, Rathbone shot his wife and stabbed himself 6 times
- survived again, institutionalized in Germany, died there.
- Buried next to Clara in the city cemetary at Statfriedhof Engesohde
