IRONY: Irony is used unexpectedly or to insult one using a word in a sense opposite to its self.
An example of irony would be, Osamma Bin Laden winning a world peace award.
Here is another example of irony. A baby seal being rehabilitated after a drastic oil spill in the ocean, fully rehabilitated and the ocean is clear the seal is released back to the ocean only to be killed minutes later by a killer whale.

PLOT HOLE: A plot hole is mistake in the plot of a fictional story that is obvious to the audience and example could be things that contradict the story line.
An example of a plot hole would be in Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Indy played no role in the outcome of the story, with or without Indiana Jones the Nazis still would have found the Ark and taken it to the island, opened it up, and all died just like they did in the movie.
Here’s another example of a plot hole. In the movie The Karate Kid, Daniel Larusso enters a tournament to face off against the Kobra Kai dojo. After receiving a leg injury he does the famous crane scene and kicks the opponent in the face witch wins him the tournament. Here’s the plot hole, earlier in the fight Daniel got punched in the face and the ref called it an illegal move yet when Daniel kicks his opponent in the face it’s the winning point.
PARADOX: A paradox is a statement that contradicts itself.
A perfect example of a paradox is, “I am nobody.” This is a paradox because you are stating that you are nobody but yet you exist and are in fact someone so you can’t be nobody it’s a contradicting statement.
Another example of a paradox is the grandfathers act paradox. Suppose you have ship made of 100 pieces of wood. Every now and then you replace it with a new piece of wood and store the old wood in a shed. Over many years you eventually replaced all the old pieces of wood with the new wood. But that’s still the same ship to you right? Well the paradox occurs when you consider what happens when you take all of the old wood pieces and reassemble them? The question then becomes which is the original ship?
FAN FICTION: Fan-fiction is when a fan of a TV/web show or movie creates their own fictional stories using characters of their favorite shows or movies.
An example of fan fiction would be, “Fry and Bart went on an adventure to the town of Make Believe to challenge the Poke’mon gym leader of Make Believe town.” This is an example of fan fiction I took two characters from two different TV shows (Futurerama & The Simpsons) created a story were they went on an adventure together to a town from another TV show (MR. Rodgers) to participate in a gym battle from another TV show (Poke’mon).
The person I did my research on was Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith is a screen writer, director, producer, and actor. The reason I chose Kevin Smith is simply because he is successful, entertaining, a great director/screen writer, and mainly because of his background. His first movie Clerks was filmed at the convenience store he was presently working at, he could only film at night when the store was closed and as for a budget he just charged multiple credit cards, his explanation was that the cost of making this film would be equivalent to a year of film school so why not just make the movie and get life experience. Clerks won the highest award at the Sundance film festival and was bought by Miramax and put in theaters. So not only did his first film get the highest award at a huge film festival it also got bought by a major company to be released in theaters, Smith was born in 1970 clerks came out in 94’ meaning Smith was only 24 years old and independently made his first movie because it was a passion it was a dream. Having no prior film experience and with just pure talent and creativity Clerks did so well that Smith was able to go on and make another movie the following year and having his career take off, this is why I feel Kevin Smith is a unique professional in his field.
Screenwriter: A screenwriters responsibilities are to create a script of existing or their own ideas. The main responsibility is to create a detailed script visualizing the story environment, describing the characters and their emotions. Some more responsibilities include collaborating with others such as directors and producers to make sure they tell the story the way it should be this may include the screenwriter having to rewrite or remove some parts of the script.
The creative writing industry is known for creating content for the entertainment industry. Creative writing is used to tell a story. This is done by giving the story emotion, feeling and imagination for the entertainment industry to use and create the visual aspect of the story written. Creative writing can display different visual representations for example, such as a book or novel that readers will read they can imagine the scenario, empathize and relate with characters based on the creative and descriptive writing of the author. Another example of displaying visual representation would be, writing a script or screen play for a movie or theater, having actors bringing the story to life so the audience and see with their own eyes and visualize the story instead of using their imagination.
Entertainment Journalist: Entertainment journalist are similar to a news journalist with just slightly different coverage of stories. Like a news journalist would report on what is happening in politics and little Timmy stuck in a well stories, an entertainment journalist will report on news and events happening in the entertainment industry such as film, artist, actors, music and so on.
The responsibility of the entertainment journalist is to follow an outlined guide given to them by their editor and investigate the approved story. An example of this could be, an interview with an author or actor about their next best seller or leading role in an upcoming film. The story can also be on a deeper level as to how online streaming is effecting cable subscriptions. They have to collect background information and find credible sources to create their article but must get it approved first before it can be published.

Its members work with 50,000 writers in areas of standard contracts, essential role of the writer as first creator in the filmmaking process, credit disputes and so on. By being a member of this guild or that of any guild, association, union etc. I believe they all offer the same thing to industry and that is protecting of their creative rights they’re put in place to protect the creative individual from being taken advantage of or just understanding how the industry works.
