The Paleozoic era comes After the Mesozoic, and before the Proterozoic
This Era is the BEST Era to travel to. At this point the sea was shallow and the air was warm. You and your family could go swimming, or go snorkling to see the facinating animals.
There were not many land animals during this Era, but the water was full of creatures, big and small.
During this period, the area north of the tropics was almost entirely ocean, and most of the world's land was collected into the southern supercontinent Gondwana. Throughout the Ordovician Period, Gondwana shifted towards the South Pole and much of it was submerged underwater. The first vertabrets and filter feeders started to evolve as well.
This a giant Eurypterid Sea Scorpion hunting a Silurian fish. Don't worry though, as long as you are bigger than it, it won't eat you!
These Fish may look scary but they only eat smaller things.
The bony fish was one of the first vertebrates. If you can catch it, you can cook it!
The Cambrian Period was when the first life started on the planet Earth. Organisms like sponges and fungi started thrive. We think it would be an amazing experience for you, and your family, to come and take a visit to this period. See the huge aquarium that was the earth at the time.
Sponges were another plant that dominated the seas during the Palizoic Era.
Here is a fern. This plant was everywhere.
During this time Earth went through a lot of changes. One change was the melting of large glacial formations, which contributed to rising sea levels. Also during this time, the ozone layer formed, and crinoids, brachiopods, early arthropoids evolved, as well as the oldest known fossils of coral reefs.
The majority of plants during this time were water plants and algae that grew together in colonies. Also evolving, toward the end of the Era, were coral reefs that looked like plants as well as ferns and mosses. They all looked really cool!
The Ordovician period was generally quite warm. The Silurian period was generally warm and stable, and the Cambrian period was generally cold but gradually warming. Make sure to pack your swimsuits and shorts because this Era was temperate!
During the Paleozic Era, the super continent Pangea was forming and there was volcanic activity.
According to this map, Louisiana was 10 degrees
below the equator where present day Brazil is located.
