  • Assessing the practical and emotional needs of a service user
  • Providing emotional support by talking to service users and listening to their problems and concerns
  • Assisting with domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, washing and shopping
  • Helping service users to budget and handle money
  • Helping service users participate in leisure activities
  • Accompanying service users in meetings with other agencies and healthcare professionals

  • Filling out daily records and storing personal information safely
  • Attending meetings and training courses with colleagues
  • Safeguarding- You will be expected to be an ALERTER and to report any suspicion or allegation of abuse.

When can I start?

If you are successful in your application you will be able to start work once your BDS has come back,

approx 2-4 weeks

What is a typical shift like?

If you came into work at 2.00pm you would assist multiple service users to prepare, cook & serve healthy meals for their dinner. ( in supported living the service users each have their own kitchen).

You will encourage service users to do daily living thing such as see to their own personal hygiene keeping their flat clean.

You will supervise service users with their medication.

On this shift you are called a "lone worker" & are required to check in every 2 hours until your sleep in shift starts for that evening.

Your shift will start at 8am and you will assist service users to take a shower, see to their personal care needs (brushing teeth, choosing weather appropriate clothing, make up, hair style etc..)

You will be responsible for household duties to keep the care home up to standard. You may go out for lunch with service users or assist to cook lunch in the home.

You will access the community to do leisure activities, attend healthcare appointments or shopping etc..

There are many types of shifts as each service users have different needs.

8-4 p.m. 9-5 pm 10-6 pm 2-10p.m

1-9 pm

11-5pm 10-3pm in fact you name it we probably do it .

Sleep overs -9.30 p.m -8.00am

Training

You will be required to attend training courses at a selected venue to help you gain the skills & confidence that are needed for the workplace

What training courses?

Health & safety, COSHH,

Medication, Food hygiene,

& task related courses.

Your acceptance of a job offer will be conditional on the findings from the Disclosure and Barring Service (Criminal record).

You will have DBS checks done that replace the old CRB's that complies with our safeguardig policy.

You will need to provide Two professional references

What does a support worker do?

The shifts include days,evening, weekends & sleep in's

20hr contracts available

Starting on £6.73 (depending on experience & qualifications)

You will be paid every four weeks into your bank account.

As a support worker your role involves working with vulnerable people and their families in different ways. You will be helping people who have mental health needs , learning / physical disabilities.

Who are we?

We are a family run service who provide both residential care and supported living for seven adults in Liverpool 6 area.

We have been established for over 20yrs and have over 40+ years of experience in the learning disabilities sector.

We are based in two large conjoining house's in Liverpool 6, situated close to all local amenities & public transport.

All service users have been living there for over 10 years
