Natural Resources in Medieval Times
Hills
Hills were often used for defense. Castles were placed on hills so that trouble could be seen from far away, and so thing could be thrown down at attackers.
Gardens
There were many gardens in medieval times.Most gardens had many herbs, as well as fruits, vegetables, and flowers. The herbs were used as medicine. There weren't pharmacies back then, so people used many different herbs to create medicines for pain and sickness. The fruits and vegetables were eaten, and the flowers were used for joy, as well as for smell during the black plague.
Forests
Forests were a necessity in medieval times, just like they are today. Trees in forests were chopped down and used to make tools, weapons, paper, and much more.
Water
Rivers and lakes were very important to people in medieval communities. They were a great source of food, and provided water for people.
There were many different natural resources used in medieval times. Today we will talk about a few of the main ones.
