Title Sequences Sound Analysis
Game of Thrones
- Game of Thrones title sequence was produced in 2011 and it has several different types of sounds effects added to the video.
- As we all know game of thrones involves a lot of combat fight so the producer decided to follow what the series is about in sounds.
- The first sound effect you can hear is swords colliding with each other
- then you can hear the drum notes in the background
- fire sparkles and violin music is also played in the series.
- After these sound effects were put together in the video to give the audience in a more realistic way what really happens in the series.

Underworld
- Underworld title sequence was produced in 2003 and it has several different sound effects added into it.
- For those who have already seen the film the sound effects are the same.
- Most of the sound effect used in the video is based on Orchestra music, Piano, Violins, flutes but mostly piano and violin music as they’re the ones that most plays in the video.
- Piano music is one of the most used sound effect because it can show the audience different feelings from the video.
- In the first few seconds in the movie you’ll only hear a deep piano music playing, then in 16 seconds you can hear the violin playing alongside with the piano that still plying on the background.
- This sounds effects were used to give the audience a dramatic and scary effect and to kind of match the images that’s been shown.
- After these two types of sound effect been played in the 48 seconds in the video you can hear the first note of the flute helping the piano and the violin to created more drama and suspense into the video.
Skyfall
- James bond title sequence Skyfall was produced in 2012 and has no sound effect added into it but instead of using sound effect the director decided to create a music to the music which is now Skyfall produced by the artist Adele
- The song was created to be put together with a sequence of videos so it can give appropriate emotions to every video.
- Most of the sound is based on piano music and the main reason for it is that piano music can be used to create different feelings to what it’s put together or the audience themselves.
- In the first scene, Daniel Craig “James Bond” is falling in the water and the first sound you can hear is an brass section of an orchestra.
- then when an giant hand grabs him pulling him deeper into the water you can hear the first bars of the piano music playing.
- These two types of music was used to create a dramatic effect to the audience and to match the images being shown.
- After these two types of music you can hear the first vocals.
- The vocals has been sang in a way that matches the music and by doing so it created a diegetic asynchronous sound to the video.
