Biological Weathering

Biological weathering is something that happens when things are worn down by biological organisms. Biological weathering by plants is when the plants grow around the rocks and pressure them to cracking. Biological weathering by animals is when animals move rock fragments to the surface exposing it to more chemicals from burrowing inside of the rocks.

Physical Weathering

Physical or Mechanical Weathering is the breaking down of rocks through direct contact with the earth. Physical weathering by wind and water is the decomposing and decaying of rocks and the minerals in them. Physical weathering by ice wedging is when ice makes the rocks crack. Physical weathering by temperature changes is burrowing in the cracks of the rocks.

Chemical Weathering

Weathering

Chemical weathering is the erosion or disintegration of rocks by chemicals. Chemical weathering by acid rain reacts with the calcite and causes cavities. Chemical weathering by oxidation is the changing in the mineral from longer exposition to air.

Weathering is the wearing and changes in rocks/minerals once exposed to air for a long amount of time.
