The Shakers of the Utopian Society

Ann Lee

Who are the shakers

Ann Lee had four children with her husband, that all died as infants. She had a vision from God telling her that sexual intercourse was the root of all sin.Soon, people decided to call her mother Ann because they believed her to be the second female Christ on earth.One day in 1772 Ann got a vision from God saying that a place had been prepared for the shakers in America.

The Shakers are one of the most victorious Utopian societies of the United States. The Shakers have maintained a presence in the U.S. for more than 200 years. Also the believe in the spirit world. In 1770 the Shakers were founded by Ann Lee.

Before Ann Lee passed away,Ann had a vision that the community would be renewed once it's membership decreased five people. The last of the Utopian society, the Shakers are waiting for the renewal, but are living their lives bsed on the visions that Ann Lee had for over more than 225 years ago.

One day Ann Lee got a vision that a place had been set for the Shakers.In 1774 9 Shakers emigrated to America.They stayed in New York so they could earn the amount of money they needed to buy a tract for themselves Western New York. The city they called, Niskeyuna. While in New York, they built the first of the Shaker communities in America.

When Ann Lee had another vision, God told her that the Shaker's home was to the West in the New World, where they could find the right place to found their Utopian communities. Once the Shakers had eighteen communities and several states.
