School-Age Sentences

child looks at the pictures while the examiner reads the story.

  • examiner tells the child: say all of the words I say: "The elephant plays her favorite computer game."
  • if the child does not repeat back ALL of the words, the examiner says "remember to say all of the words I say" and then repeats the sentence.

Consonant Inventory

  • examiner asks "what is this?"
  • child may be given a prompt or clue if they do not produce the target word.
  • if the child does not respond correctly to the prompt, they will ask to repeat the word.
  • examiner says "say duck".

What is it?

The CAAP-2, is the most current assessment for articulation and phonology. It is time efficient, accurate and yields results that are easy to score and interpret.

Why give this test?

-Articulation Inventory targets:

  • Pre- and postvocalic consonant singletons
  • Cluster words containing S, R, and L in the initial position
  • Three- and four-syllable words
  • Postvocalic productions of R
  • Production of sounds in sentences (for children 5 years and older)

Users simply add up the number of “yes” responses obtained for each process and calculate the percentage of occurrence. If the process is ≥40%, then that process is said to be “active.”

This Phonology Standard score (mean = 100, standard deviation = 15) is also based upon the “yes” responses to the Phonological Process Checklists I or II. This score, however, is based upon the total of all the “yes” responses in all ten checklists. The standard score may be converted to percentile ranks and age equivalents.
