How often should kids play video games?

More than 90 percent of American kids play video games an average of two hours a day. In recent years, psychologists have linked gaming to everything from increased aggression to shortened attention spans.

Kids spending too much time playing video games may exhibit impulsive behavior and have attention problems.

A new study out of Oxford University has found that children who play console or PC games for an hour or less per day tend to be more social and satisfied with life than kids who don't play any video games at all.

Teens who play up to an hour of video games a day are actually better off than teens who don't play at all, according to a recent study by Andrew K. Korzybski of the University of Oxford in England.

"If you spend 8, 9, 10 hours a day gaming," Greenfield says, "the only thing you're moving is your finger."

Video games use features like flickering lights to catch your attention.
