The third step of netiquette is to know the rules of the websites and chats that you're going to include yourself in. This being said means that you may be able to say one thing in a chat or on the site that you're on because

something you say on one could be okay, but completely isn't on the other site or chat.

The first rule of netiquette

is one of the first things you

learned as a child; treat others the way you want to be treated. Another

thing to keep is mind is, that if you're

posting something online that you would not say to someones face then, you shouldn't be posting it.

The second step to netiquette is

that you should obey the rules that you follow in real life. For example, don't present bad behavior online that you could possibly get in trouble for in the real world. Just like in real life, most people have respect for others differences and don't make fun of them.

The Core Rules

Of Netiquette

The sixth rule is a positive rule that is meant to show off what you know. So, the sixth rule is to not be afraid to share what you know about things. If someone asks a question online that you for sure know the answer to, then don't be afraid to speak up and tell them because we all need a little help sometimes.

This is a simple rule because most people already don't want to look bad in front of others so, by having this rule it also helps with bulling because no one wants to be labeled as a bully. The fifth rule comes into place to make yourself look good online. For example, don't make a fool of yourself by posting things online while using incorrect grammar. Also, don't go online to not only just to post things that make fun of people, but also don't make yourself look dumb by posting things that you don't know what you're talking about.

The point of the fourth rule is to

respect others time. Let's say that you

have a really big research project due by

the end of the week. And all of your

friends know how stressed you are about

it yet, they still seem to be messaging

about non important things. This is where

this rule would come into play because

your friends aren't respecting the short amount of time you have to finish your project.

This rule says to respect other peoples privacy

which means that you shouldn't go through other peoples

emails or log into other peoples accounts. For example, you wouldn't go through your parents email without them knowing because it is none of your business. The same thing comes into place when your in the work force because if you go through someone's email then and they find out, You could possibly loose your job over it.

The seventh rule is also a pretty simple rule to abide by. The seventh rule states to keep all arguments under control. So that means you may state how you feel about something, but don't let it get too out of hand.

The last rule states that you should be forgiving

to the people who are new to the internet. Some people

may not know as much as you so when they ask a question, instead of rudely answering them, you show kindly answer.

Rule nine states that just because you have more power than another person, doesn't mean you can take advantage over them. For example, most times when you're in the work force they're people with a higher power over you. But just because they have a higher qualifying job than you doesn't mean they can go through and read your personal emails.

Rule 6: Share expert knowledge

Rule 7: Help keep flame wars under control

Rule 8: Respect other people's privacy

Rule 9: Don't abuse your power

Rule 10: Be forgiving of other people's mistakes

Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior online as you do in real life

Rule 5: Make yourself look good online

Rule 1:

Remember the human

Rule 3: Know where you are in cyberspace

Rule 4: Respect other people's time and bandwidth
