Advantages of Cancer Radiation
- the most well known form of radiation as a treatment are x-rays
- radioactive material is used for disease or cancer and are commonly called therapy
- Oncology is the study of treatement of cancer

- it is painless and generally does not require anesthesia
- Radiation does not require the removal of organs which could have a negetive impact on the patient's qualitiy of life
- Radiation causes limited damage. It is delievered precisely so the damage to healthy cells is minimized
MRI's are used to create detailed images of the interior of a human body to help find tumors.
Radiation is used to kill or damage corrupt cells. It does this by damaging their DNA molecules. Once a cell's DNA is damaged beyond repair, it stops dividing and is eliminated by the body's natural process.
Advantages of Cancer Radiation
- Death of large portion of cancer cells within the entire tumor
- death of microscopic disease at the periphary of the tumor that would not be visible to the naked eye
- Ability to shrink tumors
- Relative saftey for patient radiation can be delivered from outside of the body and can be focused on the tumor
