Personal reflection

Theme

The theme/life lesson of the story is "Believe in your self and you may achieve great things.

Squid says in the story, "Rudy, shooting is 75% mental, if you believe you can shoot, you can shoot."

Rudy did that and saved the whole militia, he shot the pilot out of the helicopter so it couldn't shoot its guns and it crashed.

What i liked about this book was all the action.

What i disliked about the book was the dull points.

I recommend this book to Dominick because he likes stuff like this.

Plot/Conflict

Rudy was made fun of by the other marines.

The problem in the story was that.

He resolved it and earned respect.

He saved a soldier during an ambush, and

at the end of the story he received a letter that

made him feel happy.

Main character

Setting

The main character is named Rudy.

The other marines make fun of him and call him

"Rudy Judy" and "cabbage".

During the story he becomes more confident.

He lunges at a vietnamese soldier and stabs him in

the stomach.

Then he keeps on stabbing until nothing is left to hold

soldier together.

The soldiers were shocked and horrified at this scene.

All Rudy cares about is getting his friend back to his father

and earning respect in his ranks.

The setting is dangerous and crazy, but what should

you expect from a war.

It influences the story by showing how the soldiers are

brave and sows that its hard.

"Rudy ran through the darkness until he heard a moan, his comrade. He had been shot, but then in an instant there was an ambush.Rudy crawled pulling the soldier to safety."
